Gluten Free Crackers, Graham Crackers, and More by The Allergy Chef (grain free, vegan, allergy friendly)

80 Gluten Free Crackers, Graham Crackers, & More (w/ Grain Free) US/UK/EU

I appreciate you sharing this online and with friends & family.

Today I’m happy to share with you a wide range of gluten free crackers, grain free crackers, Paleo crackers, vegan crackers, egg free crackers, and well. ALL the crackers.

If you’re gluten free, manage Celiac Disease, have a  Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS), or avoid gluten for any other reason, I hope you’re excited. I found about 80 products for you to explore, and crackers will hopefully be on the menu for you. Below you’ll find plain options, savory options, and there’s also a small section for graham crackers.

Be sure to use the table of contents to jump to sections that you need. Most of the cracker links I share will take you to a plain or sea salt single box of crackers.

Gluten Free Cracker Tips

As you go about sampling different gluten free crackers, think about the overall taste and texture. Also, know that there’s a difference between crispy and crunchy, and it’s important that you know which you prefer, as this will help you eliminate crackers that aren’t for you.

Be sure to store leftover crackers properly, to prevent them from going stale. No point in wasting expensive products. If you’re the only person that will eat the crackers, know that some brands offer small packs of 1 – 2 servings and you can get those instead.

Explore savory crackers. Sometimes, the flour blends and be a bit meh on a good day. Having a little extra flavour boost can help your crackers read as more enjoyable.

About the Allergens

Whilst all crackers are gluten free (no wheat, rye, or barley), not all will be Celiac safe (shared equipment, etc.), so be sure to read the notes well. If you need to avoid all grains, be sure to stick with the grain free section only.

If you manage a wheat allergy, know that the crackers below are all wheat free and I didn’t see “gluten free wheat starch” as an ingredient. However, many brands make their crackers on shared equipment with wheat and other major allergens. Allergens in the products are notated in bold, and I’ve included any may contains/trace amount info.

If you need gluten free pasta or gluten free bread, check out these resources as well.

Answering Your Questions About Gluten Free Crackers

Are gluten free crackers healthy?

Honestly, it’s going to vary from recipe to the next, but also based on what you consider healthy. The word healthy isn’t a regulated term so what you may consider to be important may be no issue for the next person.

You’ll want to define what features are most important to you (organic, non-GMO, low sodium, simple ingredients, etc.), then think about those as you read over ingredient labels.

If simple is important, start with the Paleo crackers, as these tend to have less ingredients. If sodium is an important factor, look for plain or minimally salted crackers.

Overall, what I can tell you is that in moderation, when eaten with a well rounded diet of fruits, vegetables, protein, and so on, gluten free crackers absolutely have a place at the table.

What’s a good cracker alternative if I can’t have any of these options?

My first suggestion for a cracker alternative would be a homemade tortilla, toasted. If there’s a tortilla you can purchase, start there. If not, make a delicious tortilla recipe at home, then cut the tortillas into strips or squares, and toast.

This isn’t quite the same as frying to make a chip, but it’s kind of like making a chip. The next suggestion would be freeze dried sweet potatoes. The crisp is nothing short of epic on these babies, and they’d make a great addition to your gluten free meals.

From there, I’d suggest crunchy vegetables like jicama and celery. This is absolutely not the same thing as a cracker, however, for people with limited diets, you have to think about texture first and foremost. From there, taste, then any other feature that’s important to you.

Is it possible to make gluten free crackers at home?

Yes, it is absolutely possible to make gluten free crackers at home. Personally, I’ve found the best way to work the dough is with a pasta attachment for my stand mixer, get create large pieces, then cut them with a knife to form cracker shapes.

However, I don’t want to mislead you. Whilst there are loads of recipes online for gluten free crackers, they require some serious elbow grease. Note: if you can’t have eggs, be sure to look up a “gluten free vegan cracker recipe”.

If it’s impossible for you to purchase GF crackers, then it’s worth it. If you’re trying to create a custom blend with onion, garlic, and other savory flavours, then it might be worth it. However, if you can purchase GF crackers (and you’ve found a brand that you love), it’s so not worth it.

When we look at the ROI of making free-from foods at home, I think you’re better off making food such as muffins, waffles, cookies, and even pot pie. You’ll have a much better yield for your time, and you can stock your freezer as well.

Ultimately, the choice is yours, but if it were my time, I’d buy crackers if possible, and make something else instead. Yet! Don’t let that deter you. If you have a deep love for Celiac safe baking and want to try your hand at crackers, go wild, create amazing flavor profiles you can’t get at the store, and have loads of fun.
