Hi. I’m trying to figure out a recipe. It calls for heavy cream, and we’re dairy free. Does anyone make dairy free heavy cream? I can’t seem to find any.
Great question! As far as I know, there isn’t such a product (but check stores in the future, you never know what you’ll find). However, you can make your own version at home that will help you create the recipe in question. Now, is it a perfect substitution? Of course not. Nothing ever is. Yet, we can get you close.
This article on How to Use Dairy Free Substitutions will walk you through the calculations you’ll need to know how much milk and fat to add to the recipe. Cream is just that, milk and fat, but a higher fat content than standard milk.
