Tools Needed to Make This Ground Pork Recipe

Italian Paleo Pork Recipe by The Allergy Chef (gf, paleo, low histamine, GERD)

Peach & Ground Pork Recipe Ingredients

Part 1 Ingredients

  • 3 TBSP Low-Flavour Oil for Cooking
  • 1 Fuji Apple, medium to large in size, cubed
  • 1 tsp Organic Ground Cinnamon
  • Optional: Pinch of Sea Salt

Part 2 Ingredients

  • 950g Ground Pork (34 ounces, a little over 2 pounds)
  • 2 tsp Sea Salt

Part 3 Ingredients

  • 4 tsp Organic Dried Parsley
  • 3 TBSP Organic Maple Sugar

Part 4 Ingredient

  • 280mL BioNaturae Peach Nectar Drink (10 ounces)

Ingredient Notes

Cooking Oil: For this recipe, you can use any cooking oil you enjoy. I use organic extra virgin olive oil.

Apple: You can use any apple variety. I suggest staying on the sweeter side of the apple spectrum, unless you love sour apples. Click here to see a list of apples in order of sweetness.

Pork: You can swap the ground pork for ground beef, ground turkey, ground bison, or ground rabbit. Try to stay away from super lean meats if you need to make the swap, as the fat content adds to the flavour of the dish.

Maple Sugar: In this application, you can swap the organic maple sugar for a liquid sweetener or granulated sweetener of choice. However, unrefined sweeteners should be your first choice, as this contributes to the perfect balance of the recipe. Refined sweeteners such as white cane sugar read as more sweet, and it may be off putting. Use date sugar or coconut sugar if you want to swap, or use less of a refined sweetener.

Peach Nectar: If you don’t have access to this drink, you can use pure peach juice in its place. Alternatively, dissolve 5 TBSP of Karen’s freeze dried peach powder into 280mL/10 ounces of water. Taste before using to make sure it’s punchy with peach flavour. If it isn’t, add more of the peach.

Ground Pork Recipe Directions

Start by prepping your apple. Aim for a medium sized dice. If you have pieces that are mostly skin, eat them rather than cook with them.

Heat a pan/skillet on medium-high heat. Once you have a hot skillet, add your oil and diced apples. If you have a smoked salt (a pantry staple for me), sprinkle a little on your apples. If not, salt is optional at this stage. Cook your apples for 3 minutes, then add your cinnamon. Mix well and continue to cook for 2 more minutes.

Now, add your pork and salt (Part 2 Ingredients). I use 1 teaspoon of sea salt and 1 teaspoon of smoked salt, but you can use 2 teaspoons of what you have available. Break your pork into small pieces as it cooks. This also helps distribute the salt.

After 5 minutes of cooking, add your parsley. Continue to cook and mix/stir as needed for 2 minutes, then add your maple sugar. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring as needed. The stirring is to make sure you don’t have anything burning or sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Finally, add your peach nectar, mix everything together, and cook for 3 minutes. That’s it! Your satisfying meal is ready to be served. Below are some ideas on how you can tweak this recipe and have fun with it.

Total cook time is 20 minutes.

How to Store Leftover Pork

After you’ve cooked and enjoyed this ground pork recipe, you can store leftovers in the fridge. Be sure to store your pork in an airtight container, and eat within 5 days. If you’re like me and you love batch cooking and freezing, you can do that as well.

When freezing, store leftover pork in individual containers, or something large enough for the whole family to have a future flavorful meal together. When I store this type of recipe, I ensure that the container is full, to prevent freezer burn from developing.

Low Histamine Storage

If you follow a low histamine diet, meat must be frozen. This style of ground meat does best when you freeze it with a super airtight seal. The best way to achieve this is with a FoodSaver system, or similar device. If you store this in a regular airtight container with a lid, you can still have some freezer burn develop, especially if it’s frozen for many months.

Change Up This Ground Pork Recipe

There are so many awesome ways you can change up this ground pork recipe to make it your own. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Dice yellow, orange, and red bell peppers and add them along with the Part 1 Ingredients. Aim for a small dice.

Make it spicy with red pepper flakes or even a Korean gochujang paste. If you opt for the paste, use a bit more of the peach nectar drink so your meat is a little saucy.

If you’re a fan of Asian cuisine, omit the cinnamon and peach drink. Instead, add soy sauce, fish sauce, or oyster sauce to taste. Add fresh ginger and garlic with the Part 2 Ingredients, and top with sliced organic green onions before serving.

Serving Ideas for Your Ground Pork

  • Serve your pork over cooked rice (jasmine rice, brown rice, sushi rice, etc.).
  • Add a side of frozen vegetables such as peas and carrots, broccoli, or green beans.
  • Grill peaches in a little maple sugar + balsamic vinegar and serve with your pork.
  • Add feta or dairy free feta for a tasty spin. As a bonus, you can also add the above grilled peaches, cherry tomatoes, or both.
  • Boost the nutritional values with a bit of chopped greens such as baby kale, baby spinach, or baby bok choy.
  • Make it a salad! You can make homemade croutons with a bread you enjoy, and add a peach salad dressing along with diced tomatoes, blackberries, and sliced olives. Or, use salad toppings you love.

Answering Your Ground Pork Recipe Questions

Could I make this recipe in a slow cooker?

If you were to convert this to a slow cooker meatball recipe, yes, I could see you making this ground pork recipe in your slow cooker. However, as-is, no, you wouldn’t be able to make this recipe in your slow cooker.

Should you opt for the meatball method, place the Part 2 & Part 3 Ingredients into a medium bowl and mix well with a large fork. Use a medium cookie scoop (this is the one I LOVE) to potion the ground pork mixture into meatballs.

Place all of the ingredients into the slow cooker, then let it work its magic. Now, I’m not a slow cooker user, and I know you need to have a certain amount of liquid/sauce present. Make sure you use ratios that you know will work, and just use this recipe as the base inspiration.

Would sesame oil be a good cooking oil?

If we were making an easy stir fry recipe, I’d totally say yes. Since we’re not, I don’t think it’s necessary. In terms of cost per ounce, sesame oil is a lot more expensive, so I’d stick with something more basic like organic olive oil. Now, if that’s the only oil you have, sure you can use it. However, the classic sesame flavour may not be as intense.

What types of rice seasonings would taste good with this ground pork recipe?

Essentially, anything that would taste good with peach will be the way to go. The best part about peaches, in my humble free-from opinion, is that they pair well with a very wide range of seasonings.

You could make a BBQ seasoned rice, a curry seasoned rice (with added coconut milk), or even a cilantro lime rice with added pomegranate seeds. Ohu. You could also make a smoky onion balsamic rice that would be BOMB dot com delicious. We still say that, right? Who cares. Make it. It sounds so good in my head that I wish I had made that for my kids for dinner last night instead of baked chicken.
